City Wins Statewide Award for ‘Tech Day’ Youth/Senior Program

The City has won a statewide award for ‘Tech Day,’ a monthly event where Youth Commissioners assist seniors with contacting loved ones via Skype and other technology platforms.

I’m very pleased to announce that the League of California Cities has selected the City of South Pasadena as a 2019 Helen Putnam Award winner! The 2019 award winners were honored this week at League’s Annual Conference & Expo at the Long Beach Convention Center.

The City won the Ruth Vreeland Award for Engaging Youth in City Government for our Tech Day program.

South Pasadena Youth Commissioners launched Tech Day to help the city’s senior community keep in touch with friends and family, a task made difficult by ever-changing technology and software.

Tech Day is held on a monthly basis, providing ongoing, one-on-one learning sessions about email, Skype and Facebook. South Pasadena seniors can now confidently reach their loved ones.

Congratulations to our Youth Commission and Community Services staff for this recognition!
