South Pasadena News and Updates

Residents are invited to attend a community meeting regarding the City’s proposed Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Plan Program on March 26, 2026, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Library Community Room, 1115 El Centro Street.

Pre-Approved ADU Plans provide ready-to-use designs that streamline the permitting process, reducing both design costs and review time. The City will offer three sizes and architectural styles that reflect the character of our South Pasadena neighborhoods and meet the needs of local homeowners. This program will also include a comprehensive ADU Guide that will provide information on the application process and resources.

During the community meeting, staff from the Community Development Department and the program consultant, Office Of: Office, will offer a focus group session to seek feedback on the proposed program. Participants will have an opportunity to learn more about ADUs, discuss general housing needs, and explore elements to include in pre-approved designs for ADUs in South Pasadena.

Residents can also share their experience with ADUs and the current permitting process by completing the online survey. More information about the program and a link to the survey are available at southpasadenaca.gov/planning-news.
