South Pasadena News and Updates

The South Coast AQMD has expanded its Electric Lawn and Garden Equipment Rebate Program to include residents! Battery-electric equipment that are eligible for rebates includes leaf blowers, lawn mowers, trimmers, and chainsaws. Residents can receive up to three rebates (up to $250 each) for three different types of eligible equipment, provided you scrap a gas-powered equivalent for each.

Please note that the City of South Pasadena prohibits the use of gas-powered leaf blowers on any property at any time, as outlined in S.P.M.C 19A.12.4. Take advantage of the South Coast AQMD rebate program by trading in your gas-powered leaf blower and receiving a rebate for an electric leaf blower!

South Pasadena’s Tournament of Roses Committee is on tract! The float passed its first technical inspection on Saturday, October 19th and the float successfully completed its test fun. The crew who will be on board the float on January 1, 2025 took the float for a ride up Fair Oaks to Columbia and back to the float site on Mound. The SPTOR construction team has worked hard since August and was happy to successfully pass this first test to ensure safety precautions are in place.

Volunteers are needed to join the effort to build South Pasadena’s 2025 float. Anyone interested in joining the construction crew or decoration squad can get more information at  www.sptor.org/volunteer.html

  • Thursday nights – 6 pm to 10 pm
  • Saturdays – 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
