The City of South Pasadena is excited to inform residents about an important tax savings program available to homeowners through the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office. The Homeowners’ Exemption (HOX) program offers a straightforward way for homeowners to reduce their property tax bills. By simply filling out an application at Assessor – Homeowners’ Exemption (lacounty.gov), homeowners can benefit from a $7,000 reduction in the assessed value of their home or condo for tax purposes, resulting in an annual saving of $70. To qualify, the property must be the owner’s primary residence as of January 1st.

While the deadline to receive the full savings for the current year is February 15th, homeowners who miss this date should still apply, as they will receive a prorated amount for that year and the full savings in subsequent years. This benefit remains in effect until a change in ownership occurs.
