Join the South Pasadena Library’s Teen Advisory Board at a fun Retro Games Day event on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. – noon at the Library Community Room (1115 El Centro Street). This event is free to the public and is generously sponsored by the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library. We hope to see you there!

Looking to upgrade your high-polluting vehicle for something a little cleaner? South Coast AQMD’s Replace Your Ride program will pay you to do it! Eligible participants can receive up to $9,500 per voucher to purchase a newer, more fuel-efficient vehicle, at a reduced cost, in exchange for retiring their older gas or diesel-powered vehicle.

Applicants can also choose to scrap their older vehicle in exchange for a voucher that can be used for an electric bike, car sharing, or public transportation passes. This program is available to vehicle owners residing within the South Coast AQMD Jurisdiction who meet the income and vehicle requirements.

In honor of the Veteran’s Day holiday, City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 9, 2023, and the South Pasadena Library will be closed Friday, November 10 through Saturday, November 11, 2023. We will resume service Monday, November 13, 2023.

Join Upper San Gabriel Valley MWD for their last IN PERSON Fall Landscaping Workshop at the Upper District Headquarters on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 6:00pm. The “Alternatives to Removing Your Turf” Workshop is free but advanced registration is required. Please make sure to sign up here.

This workshop discusses alternative groundcover options for replacing ornamental lawn areas, including keeping the existing lawn in place and creating a “Polyculture” green space. Attendees will learn:

1. The importance of polycultures and diversity
2. How to select a blend of groundcovers for greater resiliency and soil health
3. Step-by-step process to accomplishing the transition
4. Opportunities for rainwater capture
5. Managing limited irrigation

As of 10:37 p.m. water service has been restored to the 300 block of Camino Verde. If you are experiencing any dirty water and/or air in the water that makes it look milky, please use the hose bib to flush it out. If you require further assistance, please contact the South Pasadena Police Department after hours non-emergency number (626) 403-7297.

Water Department is responding to a water main break on the 300 block of Camino Verde. Residents in the area will experience water service interruption and/or drop in water pressure while repairs are completed. Local traffic will also be impacted to facilitate water and street repairs.

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, the City will be hosting a FREE Compost and Mulch Giveaway for South Pasadena residents. Stop by the Arroyo Golf Course Parking Lot (1055 Lohman Lane) between 9:00 am- 12:00 pm. Compost and Mulch will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis to South Pasadena residents ONLY, while supplies last. Please bring a sturdy container, a shovel, and proof of residence in South Pasadena.
