The South Pasadena Public Library has launched a digital puzzle collection on Jigsaw Planet. Our first collection features 11 postcards from the Cawston Ostrich Farm, which was in business on the 100 block of Pasadena Avenue in South Pasadena between 1886 and 1935. Puzzle difficulty can be adjusted for all ages by selecting the number of pieces to play with. In its heyday, the farm was a premier tourist attraction that shipped its good all over the world. Today the site is number 18 on the City’s list of designated historical landmarks (for an interactive map of the City’s landmarks click here). The Library’s Cawston Ostrich Farm Collection includes a scrap book filled with newspaper clippings, an unpublished history of the farm, maps, physical objects, and promotional items created by the business. Check the Library’s Jigsaw Planet page often for new puzzles created from the historic images in the Library’s collection.
