Do you ever look at nature and immediately feel better? More and more studies are showing that consistent exposure to plants, green spaces and even gardening can be extremely beneficial to a person’s mental and physical health.

Join the Upper San Gabriel Valley MWD and Green Garden’s Group this Thursday, June 6^th, as they host an exploration into “Nature and Health: The People/Plant Connection.” This VIRTUAL discussion will focus on people’s response to nature, the global connections of gardens, nature’s environmental impact, the benefits of social interactions, and stress management through nature.

THIS SATURDAY! The City will be hosting a FREE Compost and Mulch Giveaway for South Pasadena residents. Stop by the Arroyo Golf Course Parking Lot (1055 Lohman Lane) between 9:00 am- 12:00 pm. Compost and Mulch will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis to South Pasadena residents ONLY, while supplies last. Please bring a sturdy container, a shovel, and proof of residence in South Pasadena.

Registration is underway for the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Golf Tournament at the Golf Course at Arroyo Seco. Sponsored by Shaw, Moses, Mendanhall Insurance, the annual tournament raises money to help support the oldest self-built float in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The fundraiser will be held Saturday, June 15 at the 18-hole, 3-par Arroyo Seco Golf Course at 1055 Lohman Lane in South Pasadena. Registration begins at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Tournament registration includes lunch, awards and a raffle drawing following play. Register and learn more online at www.sptor.org or contact Golf Chairman Alan Vlacich at avlacich@gmail.com.

The City of South Pasadena Community Services Department will be hosting their annual Memorial Day Program on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the War Memorial Building, 435 Fair Oaks Avenue.

The event will include the color guard presented by Boy Scout Troop 333, the National Anthem sung by Miranda Miller, recognition of those who served, and guest speaker Mary Tallouzi from Wounded Warrior Project. The event will conclude with live music and refreshments.

In honor of the Memorial Day, City offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024. We will resume services on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
