South Pasadena News and Updates from City Manager Stephanie DeWolfe

The South Pasadena Senior Citizens Commission is made up a five fabulous residents that are volunteering their time to make phone calls to our seniors during the COVID – 19 pandemic. Each Commissioner calls 80 seniors per week. The Commissioners are providing an additional link to our seniors by informing them of essential services being offered by the center and volunteers. Most of our seniors have friends and family to ensure their needs are met, but not all.

For many, this phone call is their connection and comfort knowing they are being checked on. Our seniors are eager to come back to the center as it is their main source of socialization. Commissioner Julie Papadakis added “I’ve learned how resilient and appreciative the seniors are and they know that staff and the community care about them”.

Commissioners will continue making calls until the Center re-opens.  Any senior citizens resident interested in being called can contact the Senior Center office at (626)403-7360 Monday through Friday 8 am to 2 pm.
