The South Pasadena Tournament of Roses (SPTOR) has announced the design for the South Pasadena float that will be in the January 1, 2024 Rose Parade presented by Honda. The float is titled “Boogie Fever.”

In honor of the Labor Day holiday, City offices will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2023. We will resume services on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

The South Pasadena Police and Fire Departments will have staff available to assist the public. For non-emergency assistance, you may contact the Police Department at (626) 403-7270, while the Fire Department can be reached at (626) 403-7300.

Starting on Thursday, August 31, 2023 through Friday, September 1, 2023, Right of Way, Inc (subcontractor for T-Mobile), will perform nighttime construction work to upgrade the communication infrastructure located at 614 Stoney Drive. The work will be performed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.  

T-Mobile has distributed flyers to neighborhood residents notifying them of the construction activity.  Street Closure is shown below, Stoney Drive will be closed from San Pascual Avenue to Lohman Lane. Thank you for understanding.

City Hall will be closed between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, due to an employee event.

Facilities including the Library and Senior Center will remain open. Emergency services and response are not impacted by this closure.

In response to forecasted excessive heat, the City of South Pasadena will host two Cooling Centers at the South Pasadena Senior Center, located at 1102 Oxley Street and the South Pasadena Public Library, located at 1100 Oxley Street.

Residents are invited to sit and enjoy the air conditioning during normal business hours. The South Pasadena Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The South Pasadena Public Library is open Monday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information on cooling centers within Los Angeles County, please visit www.ready.lacounty.gov/heat.

Southern California just received a lot of rain with the recent tropical storm. Remember – spray irrigation during and after rain is prohibited. Please make sure to check your irrigation system to ensure it is turned off for at least 48 hours after rain. Thank you for doing your part to conserve water in South Pasadena.

Clean Power Alliance, in partnership with Calpine Energy Solutions, recently announced the kick-off of the 2023 Community Benefits Grant (CBG) Program Cycle.

This annual grant provides funding for non-profit organizations advancing clean energy, sustainability, and resiliency. The grant is open to designated 501©3 nonprofit organizations serving CPA’s service territory including South Pasadena. Grant awards range from $15,000 to $30,000 for a one-year term. The CBG application is available online and will close at 5pm on Friday, October 6, 2023.
