Please see the update to the Los Angeles County Health Officer Order http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/docs/HOO/HOO_SaferatHomeCommunity.pdf (HOO)(dated March 19, 2021), effective as of 12:01 AM Saturday, March 20, 2021.

The HOO was modified to reflect updates that allow breweries, distilleries, and wineries to reopen for outdoors only if not serving a bona fide meal; add a specific protocol for Limited Services, Appendix W http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/docs/protocols/Reopening_LimitedServices.pdf; and increase the number of participants obtaining in-person behavioral health or substance use disorder support in therapeutic small group meetings and obtaining in-person faith based small group counseling services, where the services cannot reasonably be practiced remotely.

Public Health’s HOO and sector protocols are available on the website http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/.

As we move through LA County reopening’s and vaccinations, it is more important than ever to stay safe and travel local. Keep protecting each other, and if you are traveling out of state/country you will have to quarantine for 10 days when you are back.

Los Angeles County recently moved to the red tier in the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy that allowed the County to reopen several key sectors Monday including, on-site learning for students in grades 7 through 12, museums, gyms, movie theaters, and indoor dinning at restaurants, with required safety measures in place including masking and distancing requirements.

The County must remain in the red tier for three consecutive weeks before moving to the less restrictive orange tier, even if the County’s metrics align sooner with the orange tier. L.A. County’s daily case rate must be at, or below 3.9 new cases per 100,000 people, and the County’s test positivity rate must be at, or below 4.9% for two consecutive weeks to qualify for the orange tier. Due to technical issues that developed during the live streaming of the March 17, 2021 South Pasadena City Council meeting, the meeting was adjourned before action was taken on the final public hearing item on the agenda.  The final public hearing was the consideration of the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Annual Budget.

The public hearing for adoption of the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Proposed Budget will be carried over to the April 7, 2021 City Council meeting.   “The South Pasadena public can be assured that no official City action occurred after the meeting was no longer being streamed live,” stated Interim City Manager Sean Joyce.

The City is working on the issue so that the April 7 City Council meeting will be streamed as scheduled.  City Council agendas are available here the South Pasadena website.

Without further “ADU”… we need your thoughts about accessory dwelling units on historic properties and in historic districts!

We need to hear your ideas!

While state law severely limits the local discretion cities can have in the approval of ADUs, one tool available to communities like South Pasadena is the development of objective design standards and guidelines for ADUs on historic properties and in historic districts. The City has received a grant from the State of California Office of Historic Preservation to develop such standards and guidelines, and a critical part of the project is to seek input from the community on what these standards should include.

Take the survey!

With that in mind, we’ve developed a brief online survey so that you can share your thoughts on how to ensure that new ADUs are compatible with historic homes and neighborhoods.

To take the survey, simply go to this link:

https://www.southpasadenaca.gov/government/departments/planning-and-building

Please complete the survey by April 1, 2021.

No Computer?

If you would prefer to fill out the survey by hand, we would be happy to mail it to you so you can fill it out, mail it, or drop it off at the City of South Pasadena, Police Department, 1414 Mission Street, South Pasadena, CA 91030.  Please call (626) 403-7220 and request a survey.
