All South Pasadena officers recently completed an 8-hour, Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) certified instruction covering the use of force, de-escalation techniques, implicit bias, cultural awareness. The course also discussed respecting human life, developmental/intellectual disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse, effective communication techniques, increasing voluntary compliance, while improving officer safety.  Joe OrtizPolice Chief 8/10/20
