City Hall Scoop

The Friends of the Library Annual Holiday Book Sale will take place in the Library Community Room (1115 El Centro St.) Friday, December 9th through Sunday, December 11th.  The sale features high quality gently used books collected throughout the year, a special silent auction on Friday night, five local artisans selling their wares on Sunday, and complimentary gift wrapping while supplies last. Proceeds benefit the non-profit Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library whose mission is to raise money and public awareness in the community to support the services and programs of the library.

SALE HOURS

Friday, December 9
5:00-6:00 p.m. – early access for Friends of the Library members. Memberships can be purchased online or at the door.
6:00-8:00 p.m. – open to the general public

Saturday, December 10
10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Sunday, December 11
1:00-4:00 p.m.

The City is excited to announce that Mayor Michael Cacciotti will be giving his State of the City address during the December 7, 2022 City Council Meeting.

The theme of the Mayor’s State of the City is “Shining a Light on South Pasadena,” where he will be highlighting the City’s progress and accomplishments.

Join us in person at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chamber or on Zoom through our website.

In observance of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the following closures will be taking place:

• City Hall and facilities including the Recreation and Senior Center will be closed from November 23 to November 25, 2022.
• The Public Library will be closed from November 24 – 25, 2022. The Library will be open from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

The South Pasadena Police and Fire Department will have staff available to assist the public. For non-emergency assistance, you may contact the Police Department at (626) 403-7270, while the Fire Department can be reached at (626) 403-7300.

This year, the City worked closely with our partners at the Pasadena Humane Society to conduct outreach on pet adoptions by inviting the agency to come to our City Council Meetings bi-monthly, and present a pet available for adoption.

Today, we would like to share a very special story to our community. Sugar (shown in the photo) was found in South Pasadena on October 19, 2022 during our City Council meeting that night. She is a sweet, loving, and playful dog who was found running around the City.

The following overnight parking exemptions will take place for the Thanksgiving Holiday:

• Monday, November 21, 2022 at 2:00 AM through Monday, November 28 at 6:00 AM.

Parking exemptions for the Winter Holidays will also be posted in the coming weeks. We wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
