Our condolences to the City of Monterey Park, it’s residents and community members for the senseless acts and lives lost last night. South Pasadena stands ready to continue assisting our neighbors, and our residents and businesses can contact the South Pasadena Police Department for any assistance by calling (626) 403-7297.

The Woman’s Club of South Pasadena is hosting a blood drive for Huntington Hospital on January 25, 2023. January is National Blood Donor Month, and the Woman’s Club is excited to work with Huntington Hospital on addressing a shortage of blood donations that are needed for day-to-day operations. The blood drive will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at the Woman’s Club, located at 1424 Fremont Ave, South Pasadena.
The Woman’s Club asks that appointments are made in advance by calling or texting (626) 676-3035. Walk-ins will be taken if time permits.
Requirements include bringing a picture ID, wearing a mask, and being at least 16 years of age. Those 16 years of age must bring a signed Huntington-issued parental permission form.
As a thank you to all blood donors, the Woman’s Club will be giving out certificates for ice cream and gift-cards. Thank you for making a difference!

As of 2:45 p.m., water service has been restored to the 1200 and 1300 block of Via del Rey, 1200 block of Orange Grove Ave., and 800 block of Bank St. If you experience discolored water or air in the water that makes the water appear white or “milky,” please flush it out using a hose bib. If you require further assistance, please contact the Police Department’s non-emergency phone number by calling (626) 403-7297.
In addition, we would like to share that Southern California Edison’s Power Outage Awareness tool is available to track outages in the area. Water Division is responding to a water main break on the 1300 block of Via del Rey. Customers will experience water service interruption or a drop in normal pressure in the following service area, 1200 and 1300 block of Via del Rey, 1200 block of Orange Grove Ave., and 800 block of Bank St.
Staff is working diligently to make repairs and restore water service.

The region experienced a short break from the rain, but is now preparing for storms returning on Saturday, January 14, 2023. The City of South Pasadena has prepared a web page and various social media posts to provide the community with helpful resources in navigating these weather conditions. As of 7:10 pm, water service to the 400 block of La Terraza has been restored. If you experience discolored water or air in the water that makes the water look white or “milky”, please flush it out using a hose bib. If you require further assistance please contact Police Department dispatch at the non emergency number (626) 403-7297 to dispatch staff that will be in the area completing street repairs.

The Water Division is responding to a water main break on the 400 block of La Tarreza. 20 customers in the area will see a temporary water service interruption as staff works diligently to complete repairs to restore water service. We will continue to keep the community updated on the status of this main break.

The Library is partnering with the South Pasadena Arts Council to present Coffee Table Books Live!, an author talk series that showcases publications about the visual and performing arts. On Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room, author Tom Peak will talk about The Drawings of Bob Peak, which highlights art created by his father, the renowned illustrator Robert “Bob” Peak. Peak is considered by many to be the father of the contemporary film poster. His iconic artwork for films like West Side Story, Camelot, My Fair Lady, Apocalypse Now, and six Star Trek motion pictures make up just a small portion of the work he created during his prolific career.
