A key priority post-surge is to ensure workers have protection from devastating consequences associated with COVID-19 illness by preventing spread at worksites.

As a reminder, employers are required to offer free medical grade masks and respirators (N95, KN95, KF94) to employees working indoors in close contact with other workers, customers, and/or members of the public at all sites where masking indoors is optional. At worksites where masking remains required, employers need to provide employees with free, well-fitting medical masks.

Employers are also obligated to offer testing free of charge during work hours to any employee exposed to COVID-19 at work.

In order to reduce transmission at worksites, employers are required to report any cluster of worksite COVID-19 cases to the Department of Public Health. A cluster is three (3) or more laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the worksite within a 14-day period. Reports to Public Health should be made as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after reports or knowledge of at least three cases. Worksites can report a cluster to the Public Health online or by phone: 1-888-397-3993.  If Public Health determines that there is an outbreak at a worksite, employees are required to mask both indoors and outdoors if they can’t be socially distanced from each other, and during an outbreak, employees should be provided with free respirators.

To date, most employers have followed public health guidance and implemented measures to protect their workers, customers, and visitors. However, workers concerned about possible COVID-19 or other workplace safety concerns, or that an employer may not be following the County Health Officer Order or other requirements, have several options for filing a complaint. To file a complaint with Public Health, which can be submitted anonymously, workers can call the Environmental Health Customer Call Center at (888) 700-9995 or click on the “Report a Problem” at www.ph.lacounty.gov/eh. To file a complaint with Cal/OSHA about employee safety, workplace safety, or hazardous conditions, workers can call (833) 579-0927 or call or email the local Cal/OSHA Enforcement Office that serves the location of the job site.

The City of South Pasadena Senior Center, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department, will host a COVID-19 Booster Clinic on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary, and a limited number of booster vaccines are available on a first come, first served basis. Fifteen (15) Pfizer, fifteen (15) Moderna and fifteen (15) pediatric dose vaccine boosters will be available. To be vaccinated, participants will need to bring proof of age and Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.

Both today and tomorrow, Southern California Edison (SCE) will perform nighttime construction work to replace electrical transmission poles along Park Avenue from Mission Street to Hope Street. The work will require a partial street closure of Park Avenue and will be performed from 10pm to 6am.

Temporary power outages. This maintenance work is to ensure the continuity of a safe, reliable electrical system which serves the City of South Pasadena. Upon the completion of the project, the overall reliability of the SCE grid system will improve, which will minimize future power outages. We thank our residents for their understanding.

The City is seeking qualified, diverse candidates to serve on City commissions. Commissions serve as advisory bodies to review City policy issues and provide policy recommendations to the City Council. The annual Spring Eggstravaganza is back and in person at Garfield Park! This sought out event will be held on Saturday, April 16 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Kids will have a chance to visit and take photos with a bunny, play games and enjoy inflatables, participate in arts & crafts, and participate in an egg hunt!

The Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/ County Clerk announced the updated 2022 Election Administration Plan (EAP) on March 9, 2022. The EAP is available for public review and comment on LAVOTE.GOV/EAP. The RR/CC will hold two (2) public hearings for the public to provide feedback on the EAP. The first public hearing will take place Wednesday, March 23 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and the second public hearing on Thursday, March 24 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

On March 24^th, 2022, Southern California Edison (SCE) will perform nighttime construction work to replace electrical transmission poles along Park Avenue from Mission Street to Hope Street. The work will require a partial street closure of Park Avenue and will be performed from 10pm to 6am.

SCE will distribute flyers to neighborhood residents notifying them of the construction activity and will post signs and message boards within the vicinity of the work for additional noticing. Temporary power outages may occur as a result of the work. Customers impacted by the power outage will be notified by SCE in advance. This maintenance work is to ensure the continuity of a safe, reliable electrical system which serves the City of South Pasadena. Upon the completion of the project, the overall reliability of the SCE grid system will improve, which will minimize future power outages.
